The private Ichibata Line helps me for a quick excursion to Izumo Taisha.
And just an hour later I am at my goal.
Entrance to the Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine.
The straw swirl is appropriately large.
And to reflect the importance of this shrine, the rising sun is flying in the wind.
There's a lot of restoration going on right now, but the fountain remains accessible.
This week is special as many women visit the shrine to pray for their future.
A great contrast of the lanterns and the moss roof.
And of course many wooden wish plates are found here.
Or paper stripes, with an interesting place to knot them on.
A lantern in full detail.
A shrine for prayers in full length.
The main shrine building is completely enclosed for restoration.
The restoration work is also explained on a poster.
Next door there is a big hall for prayers.
With an even larger straw swirl.
And a nicely maintained entrance area.
Japan also has at least one "holy cow".
This brave man obviously is not afraid of large waves.
